Wax Modeling & Casting: Course Outline

Summary:

Wax carving and casting is the most common commercial method of producing jewelry today. Students will be taught the reductive and additive methods to construct original wax patterns (models) for casting. The second half of the class will concentrate on investment casting using vacuum and centrifugal methods. Molds for reproducing multiple objects will be made using vulcanized rubber. No previous jewelry experience is needed for this class.
